Is it February yet? Ugh. It’s felt like a long few weeks with people only just starting to warm up to work – and the weather’s not even half-heartedly trying to mimic that sentiment.

But, as always, the world of cannabis is at pace. Corners of the world you probably don’t even think about are up to some pretty interesting stuff. Don’t believe us? Well, why not? We write a blinkin’ newsletter every week about it(!)

And for those of you who didn’t know: thermidor< is a content-led, cannabis-focused, creative agency. We work with B2B, B2C, and D2C brands to develop messaging, brand, and tone of voice, as well as create written, audio, and visual content such as blogs, whitepapers, podcasts, and event films.

CBDenied

As of the 1st of February 2023, CBD will be completely banned in Hong Kong and placed alongside both cocaine and heroin on the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance. Residents of HK have been given three months to get rid of any CBD products. Madness.

Crystal Ballin’

We love a good prediction and the brilliant folks over at Grasslands have put together what they believe to be five key predictions for marketing in cannabis in the next twelve months. We’re sad about number three but very much in agreement.

Irish Ire

With Europe not managing to make up its mind on CBD, the Irish courts are now free to pursue those in the hemp and CBD industries. Shame to see this happen just because the European Commission hasn’t decided if CBD is a narcotic. Crazier still is that we’re even having the discussion, frankly.

Mahalo My Bud

An often overlooked state, Hawai, just like its companions, has a very sizable potential market for legalized cannabis. A report from the Dual Use Cannabis Task Force estimates it could be between $34 and $53 million – not to be sniffed at(!)

Study Says What?

Lower rates of Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) have been found in states with legal cannabis. It’s almost as if the green giant is a force for good rather than an illicit substance reserved for ‘drug takers’.

Lithuanian Lag

Lithuanian President, Gitanas Nausėda, was asked on the radio recently about potential efforts to decriminalize cannabis; but unfortunately decided to read from the Reefer Madness script and ignore the potential benefits for both people and the economy.
