Just because it’s a public holiday in the UK, does not mean we’re not out here slingin’ words and wrappin’ up news. It’s Easter, so consider this a lil’ basket of informative eggs to catch you up on the week that was.

Also, in case you haven’t seen adults try to roll joints wearing lobster claws, do yourself a favour and get stuck into this. If we can hash out some rules, it might just become a staple of industry events going forward – who knows(!).

One Puff Back

The perhaps surprisingly lofty ambitions of pro-cannabis politicians in Germany over the past few years are now, unfortunately, experiencing rubber meeting the road. The sentiment behind a desired shift in legislation is now being tested more broadly, and it isn’t quite as rosy as people hoped. With that said, they’re still pushing forward, trying to secure a strong base to build on. Also, it’s very good for home growers, so that’s a win.

The Skunk Dunk

With cannabis testing protocols largely relaxed in 2020 in the NBA, we’re now seeing that relaxation take more than develop even further. It’s reported that players will no longer be prohibited from consuming cannabis at all. That’s a serious score(!).

Burn Up On Entry

We recently covered the attempted regression of adult-use in the state of Montana. Thankfully, Senate Bill 546, did not make the grade and was tabled 6-4. It likely won’t be the end of this fight, but it’s an important battle won for anyone who backs bud.

Into The Chew

At some point in the future, we’d love it if someone called Pablo Chocobar slid into our DMs, but for now, we have to live vicariously through the wonderful team at leafie, who this week have been testing out vegan chews from the master baker himself.

A Bowl Connection

You’re probably already familiar with some social media platforms taking a dim view of all things cannabis. We love that LinkedIn seems to be super plant friendly – but others don’t really follow suit. That’s why more and more independent platforms are cropping up, including Bowlmates from Cheech and Chong.

UNhelpful

Poor reporting, grabby headlines, and statements based on unfounded ideas, plague lots of industries, not just cannabis. But, in a sector where optics are so important, because overcoming stigma is the only way to improve legislation, people really need to get their facts straight. The excellent Bob Hogan tackles the subject here.
