Great music, great atmosphere, you’re surrounded by both friends and strangers who want to share in the vibe. It should go without saying, but for some, festivals are some of the very best places to get blazed.

Set and setting are always important though – and not just for psychedelics. That means that if you are going to light up in a field full of speakers – surrounded by the equivalent population of Tamworth – you need to be sure that’s what you want… and of course pick the best bud available.

Shark Shock

This absolute ripper of a strain packs Indica dominance and a sour, fruity flavor and scent. No young gun, Shark harks back to the 90s and is one of the best pieces of weed breeding from the decade.

It’s quick to grow (8 to 10 weeks) and packs a very solid 20% THC. Without locking you to your tent floor like some Indicas, this has a solid mellowing effect that can work wonders at the end of a hard day’s work.

Rockstar

Without a dash of CBD, this THC pure hybrid comes from the dons over at Bonguru Beans. They fused Big Skunk Korean and Super Skunk to conjure up this super pleasant mid-power strain that grows about as well outdoors as it does indoors.

No slouch, it came a close second in the High Times Cannabis Cup back in 2012. 10 years later it’s still a firm favourite for smokers, bakers, and candlestick shakers who want a weed that works well any time of the day – handy for festivals(!).

Glass Slipper

The best social smoke on this list is why Glass Slipper is so popular for people headed out to events full of people. Another hybrid, this strain gives a strong, cerebral high that elevates mood and mind and can put you in just the right spot to soak in festival vibes.

With a huge variance in grow-to-grow strength, Glass Slipper can jump from a modest 12% all the way up to 20%. Despite its half Sativa roots, this strain isn’t going to knock you out and if you’re headed into a night of music and dancing you could do a lot worse than this fairytale wonder.

Trainwreck

To quote one partaker in the Trainwreck experience – “this stuff hits hard”. Not really surprising with a name like that, but good to know. This lovely strain is actually an 80/20 Sativa/Indica split and that goes a long way in explaining why it’s so potent.

With THC between 18% and 25%, this won’t win any awards for out and out strength but it's head high is rivaled by few. If you find yourself all raved out, and want to sample a different dimension of the festival experience maybe start with Trainwreck – just don’t end it with one(!).
